Make a worksheet Copilot™ reads correctly
Scores the active Excel™ worksheet for AI readiness and explains, for every finding, why Copilot™ cares.
New here? The step-by-step guide runs the whole thing on a worked example, with a picture of the pane at every stage.
Support
Email [email protected]. Include the Excel™ platform you are on (Windows, Mac or the web) and what the pane showed. If a scan reported something you believe is wrong, the workbook itself is the most useful thing you can send — but only send one you are content to share, and see the privacy notice first.
Replies are best-effort, usually within a few working days. There is no phone line.
Using it
Open a worksheet with a table of data on it, then Home › AI readiness › Scan sheet. The pane lists what it found, grouped by how much each problem degrades Copilot™'s answers, with the reason attached to each one.
The score is 100 minus 18 per blocker and 12 per degrader, floored at zero. It is blunt on purpose — it exists to be compared before and after a cleanup, not to be read as a grade. A sheet only reads Copilot-ready when nothing at all was found.
Known limits
- One worksheet at a time — the active one. Whole-workbook scanning is not built.
- Strict Open XML format and SharePoint™ check-out state cannot be seen from inside an add-in, so they are never scored. They appear as a manual check instead. A guessed finding would be worse than no finding.
- Sheet size. Excel™ for Windows scans a sheet of up to about 4.9 million cells — the used range, rows times columns. Excel™ on the web has been tested to 1 million. Excel™ on the web limits how much an add-in can read at once by size, not by cell count, so a sheet with very long text in many cells can be refused sooner. Either way the pane says the sheet is too large rather than giving a wrong score. Move some of the data to another sheet, or open the workbook in Excel™ for Windows.
- Large sheets take time. A scan or fix on hundreds of thousands of cells can take a minute or more, longer on the web. The pane shows what it is doing. Do not type into the sheet or close the pane until it finishes.
- Excel™ for Mac is not supported. Nothing has been verified on macOS, so on a Mac the pane scans, which is read-only, and turns fixes off. The add-in is not offered on iPad.
- On Excel™ for Windows, setting calculation mode back to Automatic is silently refused by the host. The pane tells you to change it by hand under Formulas › Calculation Options. That is Excel™'s behaviour, not a failed fix.
What costs money
Scanning is free, and stays free — every check, the score, and the explanation of why Copilot™ cares about each finding. Applying the fixes is the paid part: £6 a month or £45 a year, with prices and checkout here.
Restore is free in every tier, always. It does not lapse with a licence and keeps working after one is cancelled. An add-in that can write to your workbook but charges to reverse it would be indefensible. Undo reverts a fix to its original form: for a fix that changes cell contents, just those cells, keeping anything you have changed elsewhere; for one that moves cells, the whole sheet.
Your key is shown on screen at the end of checkout and emailed to the address you paid with. Lost it? Check that email, or email support from the address you paid on.
Your data
Nothing in your workbook leaves your machine. The scan runs entirely inside the task pane. Activating a licence sends a key and an anonymous install id, and nothing else. Details in the privacy notice.
