Import Cleaner for QuickBooks™
QuickBooks bank files that import, and exports that work in Google Sheets™. Free to check. It knows it is a QuickBooks file: zeros left blank, a day of the week split out of the date, one date format, and an upload checked against QuickBooks' rules before it fails.
Install: Install from Google Workspace™ Marketplace, or search for “Import Cleaner for QuickBooks™” under Extensions › Add-ons › Get add-ons. It is an editor add-on for Google Sheets™ on desktop browsers — it does not run in the Google Sheets™ mobile apps. This page is the support and documentation page the listing points to.
Before
Rejected
A bank file with 0.00 in the Amount column, Tue 03/03/2026 as a date, and a heading called “Credit Amount”.
After
Ready
Zeros left blank, the weekday in its own column, the headings QuickBooks expects. A preview first, and Undo is always there.
The one to know about
A QuickBooks bank upload wants a zero amount left blank, not typed as 0 or
0.00. Bank exports and hand-built sheets are full of them, and QuickBooks
rejects the line or the file. Finding those cells and emptying them, with a preview and an
Undo, is the reason this add-on exists.
What it covers
QuickBooks Online (UK), by spreadsheet only: the add-on never connects to QuickBooks.
- Bank uploads: the 3-column form (Date, Description, Amount) and the 4-column form (Date, Description, Credit, Debit).
- Customers and suppliers: the contacts file, with its Full Name and Company Name columns.
- Journal entries: Journal No., Journal Date, Account Name, Debits and Credits.
- Report exports: a transaction report or similar export, cleaned for use in Sheets.
- Invoices, chart of accounts and products and services imports: help text only for now, no checks yet.
Three steps
- Install. Once the add-on is listed, from Google Workspace™ Marketplace, or Extensions › Add-ons › Get add-ons and search for the name.
- Scan. Open a spreadsheet, then Extensions › Import Cleaner for QuickBooks › Open. Pick Clean a QuickBooks export or Check before uploading.
- Fix. Every finding explains what is wrong and why it matters to a QuickBooks import. The safe ones have a one-click or guided fix, with a preview of the exact cell changes before anything is applied — and every ambiguous date listed before the write, never after it.
What it checks
Every finding carries a rule code, so a report you read again in six months still says which check produced which line.

See the guide for what the rules mean. The rules are built from QuickBooks' published help pages; where a behaviour could not be confirmed, the rule explains the problem and leaves your cells alone. Your data
Your spreadsheet content never leaves Google. The rules run in the sidebar, in your browser. The only network traffic this add-on makes is to the licence server, and only a licence key, an anonymous install id and which host this is ever cross it. The add-on asks for this spreadsheet only — not your Drive, not your other files. Privacy notice.
FAQ
Does my data leave Google? No. Scanning and fixing both happen in the sidebar, against the Sheets API, without your content going anywhere else.
Does it connect to QuickBooks? No. It edits the spreadsheet only. You upload the file to QuickBooks yourself.
How should I import a CSV into Sheets? File › Import › Upload, with “Convert text to numbers, dates and formulas” unticked, so dates and amounts arrive as text the scan can read.
What if I want to undo a fix? Every fix saves a hidden copy of the sheet first. Press Undo in the sidebar to restore it, in any tier, at any time.
Is it for QuickBooks Online UK? Yes. The rules follow Intuit's UK help pages and dates are read day-first. A US set is a possible later addition.
Is this affiliated with Intuit? No. It is an independent add-on by AppGarden. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Intuit Inc. QuickBooks is a trademark of Intuit Inc.
Also for Excel™: Import Cleaner for QuickBooks™ for Excel. The same licence key works in Google Sheets and Excel.
