Etsy™ payment statement CSV explained, column by column
Etsy™ pays sellers through monthly payment account statements, downloadable as CSV from Shop Manager → Finances → Payment account. (Menu names change from time to time; if the path has moved, look for the payment account under Finances.) One statement mixes sales, every kind of fee, refunds and payouts. Here is how to read it.
The columns
- Date. When Etsy recorded the row, not necessarily when the buyer paid.
- Type. What the row is: sale, fee, refund, payout and the rest. This column is the key to the whole file.
- Title. Usually the listing or order the row belongs to.
- Info. The order number and extra detail. Use it to tie fee rows back to their sale.
- Currency / Amount / Fees & Taxes / Net. The money columns. Net is the figure that matters per row.
The Type values that move your money
- Sale. Money in for an order.
- Transaction fee, Processing fee, Listing fee. Etsy's cut, each on its own row.
- Offsite ads fee. Only appears if you run offsite ads.
- Etsy Plus, Regulatory fee, Share & Save. Subscription and adjustment rows.
- VAT / VAT on fees / Sales tax / Marketplace tax. Tax rows Etsy handles or records; they are information, not extra income.
- Postage / Shipping label. Label costs, if you buy labels through Etsy.
- Refund / Cancel / Cancelled. Money back out.
- Deposit / Etsy Payments deposit. Payouts to your bank. These are your own money moving, not sales: never count them as income.
Total a month by hand
Filter or SUMIFS by Type: sum Net for sales, sum Net for each fee type, and leave deposits out of income entirely. A tax year needs thirteen statements (April to April), joined the same way.
