Before
12 files
An Etsy statement per month, with each sale spread over a sale row and four fee rows,
amounts written as text and -- for empty. eBay reports with a block of
details above the table. Vinted with no sales file at all.
After
1 ledger
One row per sale: date, item, gross, postage, refunds, fees, net and UK tax year, with your own Cost and Notes columns beside it. Payouts and shop costs on their own tabs.
Three things it promises
- No logins or passwords. It never signs in to Etsy, eBay or Vinted. You download your files; it reads them.
- It adds up to the penny. The ledger plus shop costs always equals the platform's own net. If it would not, nothing is written and it tells you by how much.
- Nothing leaves Google. Your files are read in your browser and written only into your spreadsheet. We never see them. See the privacy notice.
Has HMRC been sent my sales?
Since January 2024, online platforms have reported sellers to HMRC once they make 30 sales of goods, or receive about £1,700 (€2,000), in a calendar year on that platform. Being reported is not a tax bill: selling your own unwanted things is not usually taxed, while buying to resell or making things to sell is probably trading. The add-on shows, for each platform and year, whether your sales reach the reporting limits, and your totals against the £1,000 trading allowance — facts from your files, not advice. The UK tax notes explain the rules, each linked to GOV.UK, with what the platforms report and tax year vs calendar year.
How it works
- Download your files from each platform. Where to find each one.
- Drop them on the sidebar in any Google Sheet™. Each is recognised by its columns; anything it does not recognise you map once, and it remembers.
- Build the ledger. Fees are tied to their sales, refunds to their orders, duplicates from overlapping downloads counted once, payouts moved out of income, and every sale given its UK tax year.
- Next month, drop the new file in. The ledger is rebuilt from every file you have added, and the costs and notes you typed stay with their sales.

Your data
The add-on can see only the spreadsheet you use it in. Your sales files are read in your browser and written into that spreadsheet; they never reach us. Buyers' names, addresses, emails and phone numbers are left out of the ledger. The only thing that ever leaves Google is a licence check on Pro: the key and an anonymous install id. The privacy notice has the detail.
Questions
Does it work on my phone?
No. Google Sheets™ add-ons run in desktop browsers only, in personal Gmail™ and Google Workspace™ accounts alike.
Do I need to give it my Etsy, eBay or Vinted password?
Never. It reads the files you download yourself and connects to none of the platforms.
Is this tax advice?
No. It sorts and totals your own figures and states the published rules, with links to GOV.UK. Whether you are trading, and what goes on a return, is for you, HMRC or an accountant.
My accountant uses Xero™.
Pro exports the ledger as CSV today. A Xero-ready format is planned.
I sell on Vinted. What do I download?
Vinted has no sales CSV. Here is what to do instead.
Is it made by Etsy, eBay or Vinted?
No. Seller Export Cleaner is made by AppGarden and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
Also from AppGarden
- Import Cleaner for Xero — exports in, uploads checked, in Google Sheets™.
- Two-File Reconciliation — match your payouts to your bank statement, on a key rather than row order (Excel).
