Shopify™ payout export in Google Sheets™: what the add-on checks
If you are reconciling Shopify™ payouts in a spreadsheet, here is what the add-on checks on that export, and a plain statement of how much it has been confirmed against real files.
What it checks
- Each payout row's Total against charges, refunds, adjustments, reserved funds and retried payouts less fees (PO-01).
- Charges with no Fees on a payouts export (PO-03).
- More than one currency (PO-05) and a payout that is not marked paid (PO-06).
- Net against gross minus fee on payout transactions (PO-02), and a likely duplicate by date, type, order and amount (PO-07).
- Dates and amounts stored as text, and stray spaces (PO-08, PO-09, PO-17).
How far it is confirmed
The Shopify checks are built from a third-party sample, not from a real export. Because of that, rules on a Shopify file explain and warn but do not rewrite your cells, and the gross, fee and net split is not offered on them. The only changes that can be applied are the content fixes that act on what is in a cell: stray spaces (free), text amounts and text dates. A real export would raise the confidence of the rules, and a sheet that produced a wrong finding is the most useful thing you can email to support.
What it does not do
It does not connect to Shopify, so there is no login or API to set up. You export the file and bring it in with File › Import › Upload, with “Convert text to numbers, dates and formulas” unticked.
