Payout fees missing or netted off: how to see what you were charged
Bookkeeping that records only the deposit hides the fees: the sale is gross, less fees, less refunds, and only the last number reaches the bank. If your export shows no fees at all, something is netted off.
Two ways fees go missing
- The export has no fee lines, or a Fees column that is zero, so the fee is already inside the amount.
- The file lists charges with fees on only some of them.
What the add-on flags
PO-03 raises a blocker when every charge in a payout has a zero fee, an advisory when only some charges have none, and a warning on a Shopify™ payouts export that shows Charges and no Fees. It explains why it matters when the payout reaches the books.
PO-02 then checks, line by line, that net is gross minus fee, so a fee that was folded in shows up as a net that does not agree.
Giving fees a row of their own
On Stripe™ itemized reports the gross, fee and net split (PO-18) adds four new columns, PO gross in, PO gross out, PO fee and PO net, split by the sign of each amount. Every original cell is left alone, so you can add up the lines for one payout with SUMIFS and get the fees as their own figure. It is a paid fix with a preview first, and Undo removes the columns.
An honest limit
The add-on cannot tell you what your processor should have charged, only that the file shows no fee where charges exist. The split is not offered on Shopify files, whose format could not yet be confirmed against a real export.
