Payout export dates and amounts stored as text: how to fix them safely
A payout export that looks right can still hold dates and amounts as text: bracketed negatives, currency symbols, comma decimals. Sums skip them and imports reject them.
What it finds
- Amounts stored as text, bracketed negatives and currency symbols (PO-09).
- Dates stored as text, or mixed time zones (PO-08).
- Stray spaces, including non-breaking spaces, and spaces in blank cells (PO-17).
How each is handled
The stray-space fix is free, and applies unattended. Text amounts are a paid one-click fix; a comma decimal asks you to confirm first. Text dates are a guided fix with a preview. A value the parser cannot read is never rewritten.
Time zones are never guessed
Shopify™ and Stripe™ dates carry an offset or a time zone set when the report was requested, and the file does not always record which. The add-on will not pick one for you: it warns about mixed UTC offsets and never shifts a time between zones. Ambiguous dates are listed before anything is written.
Safe by construction
Each fix shows a preview, saves a hidden copy of the sheet first, and Undo restores it, in every tier.
Check the file before you trust it
Payout Export Cleaner scans a Shopify™ or Stripe™ payout export in Google Sheets™, or a sheet you are about to import into Xero™ or QuickBooks™, and explains every finding. The full scan, every explanation and Undo are free, and your data stays in your Google™ account. It edits the spreadsheet only and never connects to Shopify, Stripe, Xero or QuickBooks.
