AI Readiness Scanner and Fixer
AI Readiness Scanner and Fixer is an add-on for Google Sheets™, published by AppGarden. It scores the sheet you have open from 0 to 100 for how well an AI assistant can read it, explains every finding in plain English, and fixes the safe ones. Scanning, the score, every explanation and Undo are free.
It reads and writes only the one spreadsheet it is opened in, and no spreadsheet content ever leaves Google. How it uses your data is set out in full in the privacy policy.
Why does AI give wrong answers about my Google Sheet™?
Gemini™ in Google Sheets™, ChatGPT, Copilot and every other AI assistant read a spreadsheet by guessing its shape. Merged cells, banner rows, blank gaps and numbers stored as text all make that guess wrong. None of them look like a problem to a person, and all of them change what the assistant reads.
Install: get it from the Google Workspace™ Marketplace, or Extensions › Add-ons › Get add-ons and search for “AI Readiness Scanner and Fixer”. It is an editor add-on for Google Sheets™ on desktop browsers — it does not run in the Google Sheets™ mobile apps.
Before
34/100
Merged headers, a title row above the table, and a totals row mixed into the data.
After
91/100
Same data, three one-click fixes applied. Undo is always there if you change your mind.
Three steps
- Install. From the Marketplace, or Extensions › Add-ons › Get add-ons and search for the name.
- Scan. Open a spreadsheet, then Extensions › AI Readiness Scanner and Fixer › Open scanner. A sidebar opens and scores the active sheet.
- Fix. Every finding explains what is wrong and why AI cares. The safe ones have a one-click or guided fix, with a preview of the exact cell changes before anything is applied.
What it checks
Every finding carries a rule code, so a report you read again in six months still says which check produced which line.
STR-01 | Merged cells |
STR-02 | A title or banner row sitting above the headers |
STR-03 | Blank rows or columns splitting the data in two |
STR-04 | Several tables on one sheet |
STR-05 | Total or subtotal rows mixed into the data |
STR-06 | Not converted to a Sheets table — a manual check |
TYP-01 | Numbers stored as text |
TYP-02 | Dates stored as text |
TYP-03 | Mixed types in one column |
HDR-01 | Blank or duplicate column headers |
HDR-02 | Two-row or grouped headers |
CLN-01 | Inconsistent text — stray spaces, mixed case |
CLN-02 | Hidden rows or columns |
ADV-01 | Volatile formulas, external links, or a very wide sheet |
ADV-02 | Cryptic sheet names |
SHT-01 | Live imports — IMPORTRANGE, IMPORTDATA, GOOGLEFINANCE and similar |
The score is 100 minus 18 per blocker, 12 per degrader and 3 per advisory. It is blunt on purpose — it exists to be compared before and after a cleanup, not read as a grade. See the guide for what each rule means and why AI cares.

Your data
Your spreadsheet content never leaves Google. The rules run in the sidebar, in your browser. The only network traffic this add-on makes is to the licence server, and only a licence key and an anonymous install id ever cross it. Privacy notice.
FAQ
Does my data leave Google? No. Scanning and fixing both happen in the sidebar, against the Sheets API, without your content going anywhere else.
Does it work with Gemini™ specifically? Yes — a sheet this add-on scores well is easier for Gemini™ in Sheets to read correctly, and for ChatGPT, Copilot and any other AI assistant you paste it into.
What if I want to undo a fix? Every fix saves a hidden copy of the sheet first. Press Undo in the sidebar to restore it, in any tier, at any time.
Is there an Excel version? Yes: the Copilot Readiness Scanner does the equivalent job for Excel worksheets and Microsoft Copilot.
