How to download your eBay™ transaction report (and join a whole year)

Everything eBay™ knows about your selling lives in the transaction report: sales, fees, refunds and payouts. The catch is that eBay limits how long a date range each download can cover, so a full tax year arrives as several files that must be joined carefully.

Download it

  1. In eBay, open Seller Hub → Payments → Reports. (Menu names change from time to time; look under Payments for Reports.)
  2. Create a transaction report for a date range and download it as CSV.
  3. Repeat until the ranges cover the whole year, 6 April to 5 April. Overlap the ranges slightly rather than leaving gaps: overlaps can be deduplicated, gaps cannot be recovered.

Join a year by hand

  1. Stack the files into one sheet, in the same column order. Skip any summary or preamble rows at the top of each file so only data rows join.
  2. Sort by order number and date, and remove rows where the order number, type and date all match an earlier row. Those are the overlaps.
  3. Check for months with no rows at all. A missing month is a missing download, not a quiet month, until proven otherwise.
  4. Never count payouts to your bank as income. They are your own money moving.
